The line graphs elucidate the amount of noise complaints to environment health authorities made by people who are residing in Newtown city for the period 1980 to 1996.
Even though, the road works and the traffic noise showed the similar trends for 16 years, the highest number of complaints was made for the road works as it reached at 1,200 complaints in 1996. The lowest complaint made for domestic noises in 1996, which figure increased steadily over time and it became the highest complaint by 1980. Initially, the complaint about the road works started at 500 and it picked up its incremental rate in 1988 to finish at 1,200 complaints. Similarly but with the different start, the traffic noise was the most complaints received as just above 600 at the environment health authorities in 1980 and it rose drastically from 1988 to end up at 600 complaints.
Factories, on the other hand, it showed the parabola line over the projected periods – it received 400 complaints at the start and it increased by 200 complaints by 1976.
It is apparent that, the construction and vehicle noises have increased over time as its complaints whereas factories and domestic showed the decline trends.
