The reading and lecture discuss three solutions for preventing the decline in frogs population. The passage claims that shrink in frog population can be prevented by applying three methods. However, the lecturer brings up three reasons to rebuts all dubious ideas presented in the passage and states that none of these three solutions are practical for slowing down reduction in the number of frogs.
First of all, the writer holds the view that strict laws should be set to limit using pesticides which are harmful to frogs. In contrast, the speaker refutes this idea and underlines the fact that this theory is not economically practical. In fact, farmers who live near frog habitats have to follow strict laws for using pesticides, so they lose more crops. Therefore, they will face severe difficulties which limit them from competition with other farmers.
Second of all, the author contends that special treatments protect frogs from fungs which put frogs' life in danger. However, the lecture contradicts this contention and asserts that these treatments are expensive and complicated. She brings up two reasons for supporting this claim. First, this treatment should be applied individually for each frog. If they were applied in large scale, would be extremely difficult. Moreover, this special treatment should be applied for each new generation, since they are offsprings. These two supports show how this solution is not practical.
Finally, the writer states that protecting frogs habitat from human activities which affect on frogs eggs helps to slow down the reduction in forgs population. On the contrary, the speaker rebuts this statements and stresses that this solution does not save frog from shrinking. As a matter of fact, global warming applies in all around the world which puts the forgs population in danger. Accordingly, protecting frogs' habitats from human activities can not protect this area from global warming.
