The graph below gives information from Annual Energy Outlook 2008 about consumption of energy in the USA since 1980 with projection until 2030.
The graph illustrates the changes of energy consumption in the US from 1980 and gives forecast to 2030 according to a 2008 report.
It is noticeable that the energy consumption of the USA increased during the given period. While the figure for petrol and oil energy increased significantly, there was little change in that of hydropower.
In 1980, while levels of spending on petrol and oil energy stood at 35 quadrillion units, the consumption stood at 20 quadrillion units. By contrast, about 16 quadrillion units energy were coal and only about 7 quadrillion units energy were remaining groups(Nuclear, Solar/Wind and Hydropower).
It is predicted that the petrol and oil energy will be consumed the highest level nearly 50 quadrillion units. While the consumption of coal will reach from 20 to 30 quadrillion units, that of (Nuclear, Solar/Wind and Hydropower) grow slightly and would reach to over 5 quadrillion units.
