Some students prefer classes with open discussions between the professor and students and almost no lectures. Other students prefer classes with lectures and almost no discussions. Which do you prefer? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.

In my opinion, the classes with lecture and no discussion are better than the classes with open discussion and are more practical. Lecture lead the students to important points and avoid what is unnecessary. While the students focus on the main point they do not waste time on useless stuff finally lecture has dominance on the subject so it makes understanding very easy.
Usually in the classes with open discussion students get disrupt because they don’t have enough knowledge on the topic but lecture focuses on the main parts and what is important so the students will learn much more in the classes with lectures than the classes with open discussion. When I were freshman in the university our professor suggest that to have open discussion class about the electrons flow and after one hour discussion we could not become to a conclusion because lots of the students did not have enough knowledge on the topic so the next time professor decided to have classes with the lecture and no open discussions.
The other advantage of the classes with lecture is the time. In the open discussion classes usually, students get disrupt and do not focus on the main points so they waste their time and does not learn as much as the old way. Personally, when I participate in the classes with the open discussion I don’t learn anything so after the class I use to study again that’s why I believe in classes with open discussion are just wasting the time.
The third advantage of the old way I can mention is the comprehension. In the classes with lecture, a professor has dominance on the subject and the professor has experience and knows how to teach the topic so that way makes the topic more convenient to understand. When I use to participate in the open discussion classes students use their own way of telling the subject so it is sometimes complicated to the others to understand it.
In conclusion, the old way is better than open discussion classes because students in the open discussion classes does not have enough knowledge so in most cases these classes are useless.
