Some people say that the internet provides people with a lot of valuable information. Others think access to so much information creates problems. Which view do you agree with? Use specific reasons and examples to explain your answer.
The internet is one of the most genius inventions of our time. With this network it is possible to get a lot of valuable information; you can order things online or chat with friends in social networks. But it also created some problems. It can be risk factor as for example hackers try to attack computers via the internet or children have access to things to which they should not have. I think that the internet has more advantages than disadvantages and would like to discuss this in my essay.
One of the most important point that speaks for the internet is the easy access to knowledge. With websites like wikipedia.org, people have the possibility to get information to almost every topic within seconds. Before the internet, people had to go to libraries and had to do a lot of research to get information. Today, you just go to a search engine such as Google or Yahoo and type in a topic of that you want to have information. It does not matter whether it is about business, art, culture or so on. It makes your life so much easier than before.
Another reason which speaks for the internet is the social function. On webpages like Facebook or with internet services like Skype, people have the possibility to communicate from everywhere in the world with their families, friends or acquaintances. Even if you are on holiday in Australia and you want to contact somebody in Europe (via phone, email or chat) it will not be problem at all to communicate. This is especially valuable for people who work in different cities or even countries and would otherwise lose the contact their people at home.
Furthermore, the internet makes life more efficient. Today you can order everything via internet: food, toys, books or even cars and you do not have to waste your time to go to a shop in the city. Or, if you want to go to a restaurant, you just open the internet explorer and place a reservation within seconds. These are just a few examples of the opportunities you have with the internet. It makes life easier and you can achieve more on a day because it safes so much time.
To sum up, the internet contributes a lot of amazing things to our everyday life. Of course, it also created some problems. It can be a risk factor for companies (e.g. attacks from hackers) or children have access to things, where they should not have access to. But if you have the right settings on your PC and protect your computer with right software, the internet is just awesome.
