TPO48 Integrated Writing
The speaker and the writer hold divergent attitude towards using three solutions can prevent the decline of frogs, which can protect humans by eating disease-carrying insects. Through relevant reasons and examples, the professor extensively opposes the content in the article.
Frist, the author brings up if laws prohibit the use of pesticides near the frogs, the harm caused by pesticide will decrease. To refute this point, the lecturer emphasizes that this solution is not economically practical and fair. Without using pesticide, farms will face a great disadvantage and lose the competitive place in the market. They will confront low yield, which contradicts the assumption in the passage.
Second, the writer advocates that keeping people from using the water in the key water habitats of the frogs is a way to soften the decline, however, as is rebutted by the speaker, it is a large amount of labor because the treatment will be effective only by capturing the frog one by one and giving them anti fungal treatment individually. Besides, people have to do the same job to the descendants of the affected frogs again since the fungus can be passed on to the next generation from their parents. In summary, doing all this is complicated and expensive.
Third, opposing the writer’s belief, the professor contends that keeping people from using the water in the key water habitats of the frogs is not a way to soften the decline because global warming rather than human use mostly causes the disappearance of water habitats, which completely rejects the viewpoint shown in the passage.
