The charts give information about a number of honey-bee colonies and amount of honey production in US per decade between 1970 and 2010.
Overall, a number of honey-bee colonies and total amount of honey production were fallen over a 40-year period. However, these were exception in 1980 which colonies slightly grew up while honey production sharply dropped.
During two decades, from 1970 to 1990, the number of honey-bee colonies and the amount of honey production showed the contrast relationship. In 1970, the number of honey-bee families were 4 million whilst honey production was 130,000 tonnes. But, in 1980 the colonies slightly grew up to around 4,2 million. On the other hand, in 1980 bees produced less honey than in 1970 which decreased by 20,000 tonnes to 110,000 tonnes. The changing also was happened in 1990 which total of honey-bee groups fell down to 3,5 million while honey increased to 120,000 tonnes.
In the 2000 and 2010, both honey-bee colonies and honey production had a decrease. Particulary, from 1990 to 2000 the number of honey bee-colonies were decreased by aproximately 0,8 million as many as in the last decade, 2000 – 2010. In 2000 the number of colonies amounted to 2.6 million and in 2010 amounted to 1.8 million. Besides, honey production decreased to 100,000 tonnes in 2000 and 70,000 tonnes in 2010.
