Table, The number of travellers using three major British airports.
The table illustrates about how many people travelling use three main airports in the UK, over a 6-year period between 1998 and 2003. The data is given in millions.
Overall, what stands out from the table is that there are significant upward trends in the number of travelers through three airports in question. It is also interesting to notice that Gatwick remained as the most popular airport after the span of time.
Looking at details, as regards Gatwick airport, the figure started at 36.8. After that, the next 4 years underwent a steady growth by nearly 15. Finally, the number went up dramatically, soaring to reach just under 70, which was the peak number of the whole time.
The same changing pattern was applied for Healthrow and Stansted. Each year from 1998 to 2000 experienced an increase by around 10 in Healthrow’s statistics. Despite hitting its all-time high at 48.2 in 2001, the figure plummeted, but then recovered and sustained at 45.6 in 2005. Another remarkable point is that the number of traveler through Stansted airport leveled off at 43.3 in the second half of the period.
