Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Face-to-face communication is better than other types of communication, such as letters, email, or telephone calls. Use specific reasons and details to support your answer.
Human beings, known to be gregarous and “the social animal”, inevitably have to live together; consequently, they are obliged to communicate with each other in order to satisfy their needs. One should keep in mind that any communication is meant to send a message properly and also receive the target person’s reactions to the message. Moreover, one of the most effective factors in successfulness of a communication is the medium; the approach in which we try to send our message. Therefore people should choose a medium for their communications which best satisfies requierments of the communication. Large group of people believe that “face-to-face” outperforms other means of communication including letters, emails, or telephones. They believe face-to-face communication assures proper procedure of sending our message and delivering back the reaction of the target person.
The first aspect to point out is that face-to-face communication more successful in sending our message to others. Generally speaking, the only mean to send our message is not only words; people can send their points and intentions thourough body language, too. In fact, in the situation where our body movement and face expressions are observable to the target person, the true meaning of the words we are saying is better understood. Therefore, face-to-face communication which involves showing body/face language helps us avoid misunderstanding in our communications.
Aside from the points I made above, one cannot oversee the fact that face-to-face communication is very effective in receiving the response from the target person. People show their response primarily by their reactions just after they recieve the message. This unintenntional reactions, which are the true response of the target person, can be concealed if improper medium of communication is utilized. They can hide their first and true reactions and send us back responses that are not genuous. For instance, when we are using emails to communicate the target person has some time to think and hide their true intentions and response. Although, in face-to-face communication the receiver side of our message has no time to thinks and conceal his/her true intentions. Therefore, face-to-face communication facilitates proper communication of intentions.
In a word, owing to aforementioned reasonable causes and elucidations described in previous paragraphs, it appears logical to draw the well-founded conclusion that face-to-face communication is a more effective approach for communication between human beings because it is more reliable in both sending and receiving back the intended message of the communcation.
