The reading and the lecture both discuss the use of electronic medical record system superseding the open ways of archiving medical records of patients, while the text describes it very useful; The professor thinks it is not that beneficiary and the users will still face the open problems.
The reading alleged that by using the new method costs of keeping and storing will drop drametically because they will take no place and they are all recorded on a computer in a database. Nevertheless, the teacher had claimed that it is not that beneficiary that the reading suggests because still doctors use the paper and write in them in the case of either emergency or referencing or even when they need the signature on it for privacy issues.
The other reasons why the reading suggests that using electronic records is booming is preventing errors such as illegible handwriting, improper transcription and nonstandard organization of paper records which in some cases even caused a sever result for the patients' health. On the other hand, the professor asserts that doctors while giving prescriptions to patients they use stylus and paper. And later on, their assistance will register the information and preserve it on the computer and that person will still face the old challenges.
In the long run, the reading believes that electronic medical records will help to research due to ease of accessing to information and excavating patients records of different doctors and hospitals quickly. Whereas the teacher talks about United States policy of obtaining medical records of patients which need the patient's legitimacy for accessing. Moreover, it is a complex and unwieldy procedure that will not be easy as the reading suggests. Furthermore, the patient can also block access to her/his records.
