Your local council is considering closing a sports and leisure centre that it runs, in order to save money.
write a letter to the local council. In your letter
give details of how you and your friends or family use the centre
explain why the sports and leisure centre is important for the local community
describe the possible effects on local people if the centre closes
Dear Sir or Madam,
This is in regards to the recent news in our community that our local council decided to shut down the services of our sports and leisure centre.
I and my family are regular visitors to this sports centre. I spend my evenings swimming in the pool along with my friends, which make me to relax after a hectic day at work. It also keep myself healthy and fit. Also, I visit every weekend with my family to play badminton.
During my visits to the centre, I observed that most of the children and adults in our community find this sport centre very near and feasible to spend their time. I strongly believe this sports and leisure centre plays a vital role in our community which encourages local people to stay healthy despite of their busy and mechanical schedule.
Decommissioning of this sports centre can leave a negative impact on our community people’s physical and mental health, because people may feel lazy and difficult to find other sports centre which might be far from our community.
As one of the residents of our community, I strongly recommend you to reconsider the idea of shutting down the sports and leisure centre. Hope you will consider my suggestion.
Yours faithfully
Gowthami.
