Nowadays most children are appearing in reality shows on TV. Some people feel it is good trend others do not agree.
Discuss both the views and give your opinion.
These days, the reality shows are becoming increasingly popular because some people think that these shows are giving fairly good platform for the children to showcase their talent and become famous overnight. On the other hand it is also creating competitive mentality at a very young age and stresses the children to run towards success which is actually no necessary at this age.
These shows are promoted in a way that they are bringing out the talent within the children. Of course, it is a place where the talented children become popular overnight. They get a lot of exposure and become a star. They are getting a stage to show their skills. The best of the best are identified or even child prodigies are found and their talents are promoted. They get an opportunity to be judged by the experts in the industry. All these will help the children to overcome the stage fear by also giving the more confidence to handle the future.
Contrariwise, the fact is these shows are scripted and are not a reality. The show is directed based on the response of the audience in the previous episode. The television channels involve children in the emotional drama and make them react vivid to get more viewership. Without giving any psychological counselling on how to handle the failure, the parents, friends, teachers and even neighbours are pushing the children towards fierce competition which will lead them to mental stress. As we all know, winner takes everything. The children who are losing the contest may lose the confidence and may suffer inferiority complex. On the other, the sudden success for the winner may be transitory. In my opinion, both will lead to psychological consequences and make the children change their attitude and create envy like adults at a very early age, when there is a lot of time to concern about their future. Since the shows are scripted, there is a chance that the deserving candidates might not win. I know a winner who got an opportunity towards their career path after a reality show who was unable to shine. Viewers have moved ahead to watch the next show.
Even though one becomes popular by winning the show, the rest of the children are facing the failure. These shows may be a pathway to fame and bring accolades for the youngsters yet we may have to consider the pitfalls.
