The pie charts demonstrate proportions of industry sector providing to Turkey’s economy, between 2000 and 2016.
Overall, at the beginning of the period agriculture was the most significant sector, while construction was the least. In comparison, another chart health care and education became the largest segment and the lowest contribution was made by finance, business and other. The data can be divided on to two groups: one group experienced an upward trend while the others underwent a different one.
With respect to the former group, it can be seen from the charts, construction accounted for 3% in 2000 and experienced more than threefold increased to 10% in 2016. At the same time, there was a rise of 5% to 8% in the portion of finance, business and other. Moreover, the percentage of manufacturing and trade, utilities group and transportation slightly went up by 2% in 2016, making up 12% and 14%.
Turning to the latter group, it displayed the opposite trend. Agriculture was the main sector providing income to the country with almost a quarter in 2000, then suffered a dramatic decline to only 14% in the next 16 years. In 2016, a minimal fall was apparent in leisure and hospitality sector and government fell by 3% which reported to 14% and 9% respectively. The only segment remaining stable over the period was healthcare and education, representing 17%.
