By contrast, in this time frame, Madrid and Frankfurt experienced a slight increase, by about 2% increase from 1989 prices.
In period 1996-2002, most of the major cities witnessed notable growth in house prices. London accounted for the most change in house prices compared to 1989, by over 12% changes, following that were New York and Madrid, by just over 5% and 4% respectively. Only Tokyo remained a decrease by 5% compared to 1989 prices.
In conclusion, over the period 12 years from 1990 to 2002, the tendency of average house prices in New York and London fluctuated with the most significant change in London house prices. By contrast, the changing tendency in Madrid, Tokyo and Frankfurt was entrenched with the fallen in Tokyo and the risen in both Madrid and Frankfurt.
