Nowadays parents put too much pressure on their children to succeed. What is the reason for doing this? Is this a negative or positive development?
There is no doubt that today, children are made to carry out success in their life by their parents. I myself believe that this is a negative development. Hence, my following essay will clarify the reasons as well as the bad effects of the issue.
At the outset, the root of the problem undeniably derives from parents' high expectation. As a matter of fact, a handful of parents have huge and strict requirements from their children, for them adolescents' achievements are no longer enough. Consequently, they compel their offsprings to learn more diligently to meet their aspiration. Specifically, the proportion of youngsters who are enforced to take part in extra classes by their parents have accelerated rapidly recently. Besides, some parents are afraid that in the era of technology, their children will have difficulty in finding good jobs in the future. Therefore, they ask harshly their teenagers to learn well to have better foundation for the future occupation.
Nonetheless, the above development has lots of detrimental impacts on children. After school hours, instead of relaxing, children continue to be made to attend extra classes, which ruins their health and spirit. Especially, a handful of students tend to suicide to relieve pressure because they are too tired of parental expectation. According to WSJ - a well-known American newspaper, the number of teenagers suiciding due to parental pressure has risen up 10 % this year.
To sum up, the above - mentioned development does not seem to be effective but counter-productive. I think that all parents should consider more carefully and find other better ways for their offsprings' studying instead of turning it into burden for their children.
