Overall, there were considerable upward trend for the amount of global population in India while this figures for other countries went down remarkably. Another interesting point is that Japan always remained the smallest proportion over the period given.
Looking at details, although China ranked the top with 23% of total of world population, this country experienced a dramatic fall to 20% in 2002 and is forecasted to remained this trend by 2050, at 15%. Similarly, the number of people in Japan and USA made up the lest proportion at 5% and 7% respectively, then dropped by around 3% each in 2002. Meanwhile the population of the USA will stay unchanged by 2050, this figure for Japan is projected to reduce continuously to a negligible number.
By contrast, in 1950 the percentage of total of world population contributed by India was three times higher compared to Japan’s figure, at 15% and increased slowly by nearly 2% in 2002. According to anticipation, by 2050, Japan will surpass other three countries, reach the peak at just under 20% of global population.
