Mars, Earth, hydroponic, water, dangerous level, send human
In this set of material, both the author of the reading passage and the lecturer are discussing how it can be possible to send humans to Mars. Although author notifies that solving several problems would be required for the project of sending humans to Mars, the professor casts doubts on the author's claims, and she does not agree with the author even though she believes it is challenging. In what follows, the reasons for both the author and the lecturer will be substantiated.
Firstly, both of the passage and talk have a debate on food and water supplies. According to the reading, it is said that scientists should spend two years to go on Mars and come back to the earth, and the food and water supply can be challengeable. On the other hand, the professor states that they can cultivate hydroponic. This kind of plant needs a little space, and it can recycle the water. The scientists can also collect drink water and fresh air to their breath.
Secondly, the reading and the lecturer are discussing scientists' body problem. The author acclaims that there is a zero-gravity environment of space on the human body, and it leads to muscle mass reduction and less bone density. In contrast, the professor proclaims that other scientists once maintained many months in this situation. Moreover, several techniques can save their muscles mass. Scientists can do some exercises to prevent it.
Finally, the author of the passage asserts that some radiations emitted by the sun are dangerous for scholars. But, the professor believes these radiations are not at a critical level. Also, scholars can have some shielded clothes on Mars.
In conclusion, while the author announces that there are several issues sending humans on Mars, the professor express that these obstacles can be solved or are not crucial difficulties at all.
