The graph shows two air pollutions(sulphur dioxide and smoke) average levels in London between 1600 and 2000. Units are measured in micrograms per cubic meter.
Overall, it is clear that the levels of sulphur dioxide and smoke had a similar pattern during this period, but there were always higher level of sulphur dioxide than the level of smoke in the atmosphere. They were both minimal in 1600. However, they grow dramatically and reach a peak in about 1900. After this, they fell sharply to almost disappear by 2000.
Looking at the information in more detail, we can see that sulphur dioxide reach a peak of nearly 900 micrograms per cubic meter in 1850, while the pollution level of smoke up to 400 micrograms per cubic meter.
Over the next one hundred year, these two pollutions experienced an inclined period and finally be got rid of, although there were a great deal of fluctuation between 1925 and 1960.
