The two charts compare the percentage of the number of people who live in five different areas all over the world, including Europe, North America, Latin America & Caribbean, Middle East and North Africa, the Asia Pacific in the timescale of a century from 1900 to 2000.
Overall, while the rate of people who lived in Asia and Europe occupied the world population, people lived in other countries experienced a slight fluctuation over the period surveyed.
Look at the pie chart for more detail, we can see that the Asia Pacific hold the lion’s share, with 60% (in 1900) and 54% (in 2000), compared to the other regions in the world. In the meantime, Europe was the runner-up, with a considerable decrease from 25% (in 1900) to 14% (in 2000).
As can be seen in the chart, the proportion of residents in North America leveled off throughout the period, with 5% in both years. A difference was recorded in Latin America & Caribbean and Africa with an upward trend in the share of inhabitants, beginning at 3% and 4% (in 1900) and increasing to 8% and 10%, respectively at the end of the survey. The striking feature was seen in the Middle East and North Africa, with significant growth to 6% in 2000 from scratch.
