Dear Amy,
How're you? I hope all is well with you and the family. I am writing to update you that I have started my new job one week ago.
My previous contract as a postdoctoral research fellow with Monash university had ended after three years. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there; however, it was not possible to extend my employment due to the lack of funding and a recent policy imposed to limit staff numbers. Fortunately, I was blessed to get a new posting at Swinburne university as a research assistant. While I will be working with in a different team, my work will still revolved around developing sensors for biomedical applications. it's been going really smoothly so far.
What's more exciting is that I've recently been granted permanent residency in Australia! I'll be purchasing a home soon given the new addition to the family - I just had a baby boy too. We would love to have you over if you are visiting Melbourne.
