The provided bar chart compares the employment rate of male and female in six major countries from 1995 to 2005.
It is evident from the chart that males ranked the highest proportion of employment than females over a period of 11 years.
In Iceland about 82 percent got employed in 2005 and this was the largest recorded rate in the given countries. This percentage of jobs were all given to males. This were comparatively similar in the initial year (1995) that men were well beyond the average of employment rate than females which was approximately 31 percent higher than the females.
The second biggest trend in the graph was the improvement in employment between 1995 and 2005 in Switzerland. The figure of employed women improved. Although, men were still higher than females in terms of the ratio of employment in 2005 which was about 78 percent. However, females in this country were much higher in percentage who got the job than other countries from 1995 to 2005. Roughly 67% in 2005and 57% over the decade.
Furthermore, the proportion of employed men in 2005 were almost the same in the UK, New Zealand, The USA and Australia with 73%, 72%, 71%, and 68% respectively. There was an increase of almost 12% for men from 1995 to 2005. Whereas, Females had the lowest rate of employment in Australia and New Zealand which was roughly the same over a period of 11 years, which was just above 22% in 1995 and just beyond 35% in 2005.
However, the percentage of employed women went up to 12% over a period of 11 years.
