The environment Conservation and its domains of accountability have been a vital issue both in developed and developing countries so far, which have brought with it opposing views. Although a proportion of people Believe that environmental protection should be within the realm of government’s responsibilities, other people are of the opinion that individuals ought to be responsible for it. I am on the viewpoint that individuals play the most essential role with regards to environment in general rather than the government.
Those who are on the standpoint that governments are in the charge of the protection of the environment may claim that by appropriate legislation as well as setting up and implementing relevant laws in order to preserve the environment, it would be probable to make it mandatory for individuals to prevent actions against the environment. Thus, such deterrent laws make it compulsory for people to pay attention to their detrimental activities through which environmental pollutions might produce. Take most of the developed countries in Europe in terms of government policies as a proper example. Their governments have obliged them not to leave the litters and non-resolvable plastic waste I the nature. Additionally, they make the offenders who break the environmental laws pay for the fines. It has been undoubtedly effective on their pristine environment.
Nevertheless, individuals’ appreciation over their accountabilities to the environment, which extremely depends on their subconscious senses to the environment, is influenced by the educational systems and their cognition levels about the necessity of the environment conservation. With this said, appropriate revised curriculum contents in schools should be highly taken into accounts in order to improve people cognition over the importance of environmental protections.
In conclusion, despite the effective laws Imposed by authorities to avoid damaging the environment, individual contributions to the environment conservation as a set of obligatory duties should be regarded. In my viewpoint people contribution would be more substantial, compared to governmental legislation.
