The reading claims that Torreya is one of the evergreen trees which are extinction in the states of Florida. The author elaborates his viewpoints by providing three main reasons to maintain the Torreya from extinction. Nevertheless, the professor believes that none of the solutions are satisfied and refutes the author's concepts.
First, the reading asserts that reestablishing option of these trees in the same location and states that Northern Florida as the best site for favorable microclimate. However, the professor refutes this view by stating that it's unlikely to become successful; hence, global warming alters this area remarkably warmer than 1000 years ago. Since these trees require cold and damp area, she indicates that drier weather in this area is becoming widespread as the cause of the less surviving in the environment.
Furthermore, the article avers that move Torreya trees to a different location which similar to ancient period and microclimate of trees. On the other hand, the professor brings the fact that significant changes could be harmful to the entire ecosystem. She states example of black Yoko trees as the negative experience; hence, it spread so quickly on different areas by scientist and impose other plants to extended as numerous negative consequence.
Finally, the article posits that preserving Torreya in lab and research center to keep up this kind. On the contrary, the professor casts doubt on this claim by stating that it not a perfect solution since these trees not able to resist the disease if it plants in the artificial environment. In addition, states that large areas and diversity as two essential requirements for these trees which can't afford by research centers. Not sufficient capacity and variety are the cause that these trees will not survive from the disease.
