The table below gives information on consumer spending on different items in five different countries in 2002.
The table shows data on consumer expenditure on different types of consumption in five countries in the year 2002.
In general, the percentage of food, drinks and tobacco accounted for the largest proportion of consumer spending in each country, meanwhile a reverse pattern can be seen to that of leisure and education.
Consumer spending on food, drinks and tobacco were highest at Turkey and Ireland, with 32.14% and 28.91% respectively, while people of Italy, Spain and Sweden spent just over 15%. The proportion of spending on clothing and footwear was highest at Italy, at 9.00%, while remaining countries spent around 6%.
The consumer expenditure on leisure activities and education was much less than remaining items. Turkey accounted for a largest proportion on these services, at 4.35%. Italy and Sweden had the similar percentage, with 3.20% and 3.33%, in turns. Ireland and Spain had the lowest percentage with 2.21% and 1.98%, respectively.
