summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant
Information on how the amount of water used by three sectors changed during a century and water consumption in Brazil and Congo in 2000 is presented in the graph and table.
As regards global water use, figures increased over the period. Figures for agriculture and industry rose steadily until around 1950. Then, levels went up dramatically, reaching a high of about 3000 km and 12000 km in 2000 respectively. Household consumption rose marginally until 1970. In the following years, figures grew moderately, with roughly 500 km being consumed in 2000.
Regarding water consumption in the countries, Brazil consumed more than Congo. Water consumption per person in Brazil with 176 million people was 359 m while it was only 8 m in Congo with 5.2 million people. The area irrigated in Brazil was 26500 km whereas just 100 km was irrigated in Congo.
To sum up, it can be inferred that there was a direct relationship between the world population growth and water consumption rise and Brazil's agriculture was far more developed than that of Congo.
