The reading discusses that the population of frogs has decreased around the world and the author listed three factors to solved the problem. However, the speaker finds all the solutions dubious and presents some evidence to refute all of them.
First, the reading passage points out that pesticide is a possible reason and the utility of it must be prevented. In contrast, the speaker casts doubt on this issue and states that from economical aspects, it is not fair. Besides, farmers in this area will confront severe disadvantage, in other words, they will lose their crops in comparison to other farms in different areas.
Furthermore, the reading proposes that fungus has caused the skin of these frogs to thicken and they could not absorb water so the infected frogs will die. Hence, we can use some treatment to prevent infection. On the contrary, the speaker declares that doing treatment on a large scale is strongly hard. Also, they will pass infections to the next generation and its cost is too much. Thus, this solution is rebutted.
Last but not least, the author indicates that because they lay their eggs on the water, humans' excessive use of water and their activity are threatened their habitat. On the other hand, the lecturer mentioned that water using does not have a tremendous effect on global warming and distribution to extinct this animal. As a result, it is unlikely they have a positive effect on preventing the decline of the frogs' population
