You successfully passed a job interview. You have to join by 15th November but you will not be able to do so.
Write a letter to your new boss. In your letter:
- explain your situation
- express your concerns -
- suggest solutions
Dear Sir/Madam,
First of all, I really appreciate for giving me the opportunity to serve your company as a Software engineer. Yesterday, I received my joining letter stating that I have to join the office by the 15th of November. I am writing this letter to inform you that I will not be able to join the office due to unavoidable situation.
Allow me to elaborate, on Friday, I was riding a bike and returning from the health club, during that time I met with an accident and I got injured. As our family doctor is giving me the best treatment and advised me to take at least a one-week bed rest to recover quickly. Therefore, I am not able to attend the office for the aforementioned date.
As I know that your company hired me for one of the important projects and the deadline is quite near to complete the assignment. I can understand your company situation.
Furthermore, to cover up the pending task, I can assure that I am planning to spend an extra two hours daily after my joining. I am quite certain that I will complete the pending work during that time. Moreover, if require I would like to work from home to communicate with the client and team.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours faithfully,
Deepak Sharma
