The line graph shows data about the number of cars per family in United Kingdom Between 1971 and 2007.
Overall, the ownership of vehicles in Britain increased over the period shown. A considerable rise can be seen in percentage of family with two cars and eventually overtook that for people without car.
In 1971, most families owned no cars, at about 48%, 5% higher than household with one car. Proportion of family with one car and two cars were lower, at around 44% and 8% respectively. Family with three or more cars had the lowest figure, at merely 1%.
From 1971 to 2007, there was no significant changes in the trend of family with one car which fluctuated between 45 % and 42% and became the most common type in UK. The biggest change was seen in family without can which fall gradually to approximately 24% but the group of two cars increase steadily to 25%. However, type of three or more cars saw a small rise to 7% for the whole period.
