Casein-based plastic packaging
The reading passage and the lecture have conflicting opinions about whether or not casein-based plastic packaging can cause harm to environment. The author strongly postulates that casein based plastic packages have several advantages. On the other hand, the listening adamantly delineates that those benefits mentioned in the passage are not correct and have various flaws in it.
First and foremost, according to the author of the excerpt, large amount of waste is reduced by casein. In other words, their wraps are biodegradable and can easily be dissolved in water. Nevertheless, the lecturer offsets these points by declaring that casein is vulnerable to water and high temperature, which means one would have to use synthetic one.
Next, the author contends that food in casein plastic packages can stay fresh as it is much more effective in blocking oxygen. The professor refutes these arguments. He clears out that because casein is vulnerable to water and high temperature, it can absorb water molecules easily that act as a plasticizer. It is highly sensitive to water and as a result, it can affect water and hygiene greatly.
The text lastly asserts that casein bags can be nutritious as it contains high number of proteins and other edible substances, which can be really great for enzyme production. However, the speaker in the listening counters these indications by insisting that there are a large number of people who is allergic to milk. Consequently, these individuals do not want to experience products like this which can be a really big thread to them. Therefore, it clearly shows that the author's benefits of using casein are not accurate.
