Essay topics:

Summarize the points made in the lecture, being sure to explain how they cast doubt on the specific points made in the reading passage.

In this set of materials, the writer strongly postulates what skeptics think about the impossible existence of bees from 200 million years ago. On the other hand, the lecture states that it is perfectly possible that bees have been on earth for such a long time.

First and foremost, the passage begins by asserting that there are not fossils of bees that date from 200 million year ago, the earliest that have been found is 100 million years old. Nonetheless, the lecture maintains that even though it is truth what skeptics say it should be also understandable that it could have been impossible to preserve bees in those times and there were not many trees to survive.

Next, the professor in the lecture further points on that bees, in the past, might have not fed on the same type of plants they do in these times, they may have used not flowering plants like pine trees. These claims refute the writer’s implication that 200 million years ago flowering plants did not exist.

Ultimately, the article wraps its arguments by declaring that the nest structure is missing of caps with a spiral pattern that modern bees do in order to cover their nest. The speaker in the listening rebuts this point by insisting that there is evidence that when the 200 million years old fossils were discovered they had the same chemical that bees in the actuality use to cover their nest.
