The maps below show the city of Stokeford in 1930 and development plans for 2030.
The maps below illustrate the town of Stokeford as it was in 1930 and also the plans for its future development by 2030.
Initially the town was a rural area whereas the future plans are meant to convert it into a suburban hub. There used to be lots of farmland and a few shops but they are mostly to be replaced with new houses in the future.
Some features are supposed to remain the same. This includes the River Stoke and the bridge over it in the north of the town. There is also a main road that intersects through the town, effectively dividing it into eastern and western part.
As for the new developments, there are many. East of the road, there used to be a few homes, a shop and a post office in 1930 which is going to be replaced by rows of new houses as well as two new streets will be added. In the south, on the east side of the road, there used to farmlands which will all be paved to make space for some more new houses.
In a similar fashion to above, on the west side of the main road, the farmland will be demolished to make room for a row of new houses. Although the school will stay in it’s place, there will be some additions to its structure. This side will also see development of a retirement home which will replace the large house with a garden.
