Essay Summarize the points made in the lecture being sure to explain how they cast doubt on the specific points made in the reading passage has been updated.
Both the passage and the lecture deal with the environmental problem that currently affect the Mediterranean and the marine ecosystem under the sea. While the passage states some of the problems related to the contamination, water pollution and extinction of certain species, the lecturer points out some of the solutions that can be done in order to save the Mediterranean.
To begin with, the passage mentions the excessive amount of fishing has resulted devastating outcomes, such that the survival of some of the species are at the edge of knife. The lecturer suggest that strict regulations must be put by restricting the number of species that can be caught. Additionally, this strategy succeeded in the Atlantic and promoted the increase in a species. Therefore, we must apply the same legislation for the Mediterranean too. Otherwise, more and more species will not be able to recover which will result the fishing industry to come to an end.
Moreover, the passage clearly indicates that the construction near the sea shore plays a major role in disrupting the nature of the sea. And the lecturer claims that the resort and beach hotels give the highest damage so the construction of these buildings must be reduced as much as possible. Furthermore, he asserts that vehicles like Jet Ski and speed boat deteriorate the undersea plants.
Finally, the lecturer asserts that the heavy industrial companies release dangerous chemicals into the sea that lead to an extensive water pollution and the only way to avoid this is to replace the factories away from the shore. He then gives the example of France that displaced some of the factories. Consequently, the other countries on shores of Mediterranean must do the same.
