The line compares the ratio of those without jobs in suburban and urban areas in Australia in 2012.
Overall, Australia witnessed two opposite trends in the unemployment rate between rural and urban areas in 2012. In addition, the figure for rural areas were higher than that of urban areas in the researched year.
Looking at the percentage of unemployment in rural areas, over two quarters of the year, it decreased significantly from 6.5% to 4.5%. After a few months of fluctuation, in the fourth quarter of the observed year, the figure leveled off at 5%.
Moving onto the degree of joblessness in urban areas, it started at about over 2% in the first quarter and reached a peak at 4% in the next quarter. After a dramatic decline in the third quarter, there was a moderate climb before reaching nearly 5% in the last month of the year 2012.
