The diagram delineates that how the water cycle works.
Overall, it can be inferred that there are mainly 4 vital steps in the process of water cycle. These are cloud formation, precipitation, surface runoff and condensation of the water vapor.
The sun plays the crucial role in condensing of the water vapor that leads to the formation of the cloud. After the cloud production, the water is precipitated in the form of rainfall on the impervious layer. However, the rain that is precipitated and the snow that is melted collects further to three parts via surface runoff. The water can get collected in the lakes, ocean and ground.
The water that is collected in the ground is known as groundwater. Evaporation is the most substantial step that is taking place in the water cycle. The water comprising in various sources evaporates to form again the water vapor and subsequently formation of the cloud. Moreover, about 80 % of the total water vapor is contributed from the ocean. Likewise, the steps from condensing the water vapor continues and repeats thus, known as the water cycle.
