The charts below give information on the ages of the population of Yemen and Italy in 2000 and projections for 2050. Summarise and report the main features
The pie charts illustrate the populations divided into three age groups of Yemen and Italy in 2000 and predictions for 2050. Overall, the people under 14 years old in Yemen accounted for the highest proportion in 2000, while the Italians whose ages were from 15 to 59 years made up the largest part. There will be an increase in the proportion of elderly people in both nations in 2050.
In 2000, about half of the citizens of Yemen were children under the age of fourteen, whereas only 14.3% of Italy’s people came from the same age category, being the smallest population group. Over 60% of Italian citizens fell into the 15-59 age bracket, compared to that of Yemen, at roughly 46%. The difference in the percentage of people over 60 years old in Yemen and Italy was also significant (3.6% compared to 24.1%).
Yemen’s 15 to 59 years old population, however, is expected to experience a growth to nearly 58% in 2050, becoming the most popular age division here. Meanwhile, that figure for Italy is anticipated to decrease slightly by approximately 15%. Both Yemen and Italy are forecast to go through a rise in the percentage of elders, to 5.7% and 42.3%, respectively. Likewise, the proportion of children in the two countries is predicted to decline by about 13% and 3%.
