The graph depicts the expenditure of the main reasons why teenagers in one African country use their mobile phones over a 3-year period from 2016 to 2019. In general, about half of teenagers used their phones for social networking, with phone calls being the least used feature.
Of the data gathered, almost half of teenagers were interested in social networks in 4 years between 2016 and 2019. The number of them decreased slightly from 50% in 2016 to 48% in 2017, but increased again to 56% in 2019. In contrast, the percentage of teenagers using phones for calls showed a 3% increase between 2016 and 2017, then reached an insignificant minority (5%) in 2019.
In terms of the remaining reasons, email was the second most common, with approximately 22% of teenagers using phones during the period. The young users of digital cameras remained stable at 15% in the first two years before rising to 20% in 2019.
