To begin with, in 1985, the largest amount of energy was oil, which accounted for over half. The proportions of nuclear and natural gas were 22% and 13%, respectively. The percentage of coal was 8%, and it doubled with hydrogen to only 4%.
18 years later, the proportion of oil was still the largest, but decreased to 39%. Following the same trend as oil, the amount of nuclear energy declined slightly and reached 17%. Coal and natural gas have grown by 23% and 13%, respectively. Moreover, the proportion of hydrogen remained stable and other renewables reached 4% in 2003.
