The presented bar chart illustrates how many billions of minutes of call done in the UK between 1995 and 2002, according to various usages: by mobiles, by fixed line for local contacts and for national and international ones.
In general, fixed-line calls were the most dominant during the 7-year period. By comparison, mobiles for both local, national, and international calls experienced a surprisingly remarkable rise in total usage.
In 1995, with over 70 billion minutes, local dial calls doubled as another type of fixed line before reaching the highest peak at 90 billion minutes in 1999. From 1999 to 2002, it dropped significantly to the data as same as 1995's record. In contrast, the total number of national and international calls continuously climbing up to 60 billion in 2002.
Having the least figure at the beginning (with only 3 billion minutes), the tendency of utilizing mobile phone in the UK became more and more recognizing after 1999 with a tremendous growth up to roughly 45 billion minutes in 2002.
