Many people around the world use social media to keep in touch with other people and get the news. Do you think the advantages of this development outweigh the disadvantages? Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Harnessing alternative forms of social media to stay connected with relatives and access current events has increasingly become prevalent in recent years. Despite some downsides, I contend that the advantages of this tendency surpass its drawbacks for the following reasons.
Admittedly, this trend can pose a threat to a long-lasting relationship among individuals. The inadequate direct interactions stemming from online conversations through social platforms can emerge as an obstacle to separating people. This is because most people often value face-to-face conversations where body language and facial expressions play an important role in enhancing trust and sincerity. If trust cannot be constantly built up, the chance of falling apart is considerably high. As a result, the lack of face-to-face interactions can put an end to a relationship.
Nevertheless, social platforms have offered individuals a superior medium of communication and staying informed about the latest social transformations. First and foremost, the rapid pace of technological advancements has prompted conversations to be commenced through a screen, reducing the need for time-consuming interactions. As a result, individuals can make use of their time more effectively in performing other daily tasks. Additionally, alternative forms of social media can allow people to stay connected with the instantaneous breaking news, enriching their background knowledge. This immediacy likely helps individuals steer clear of potential threats from unanticipated changes in society, safeguarding their lives.
In conclusion, although the utilization of social media in getting news updates and staying connected with other people can potentially obsolete relationships among people, I argue that the advantages far outweigh the downsides. Thanks to immediacy and time efficiency, it is more convenient for people to interact with others and stay informed of societal changes, benefiting their survival.
