Agree or Disagree: In today’s world, it is more important to work quickly and risk making mistakes than to work slowly and make sure everything is correct.
Have you ever considered how your working speed fits your life? Some people would argue that working quickly with a few mistakes is a better strategy, while others may consider the opposite point of view. In my opinion, it is clear that it is better to work slowly and carefully.
To begin, working slowly guarantees a higher quality of work. In other words, by spending more time on a project, a person can make sure that is done perfectly. If the person takes the time to check for errors, then his boss or professor will be impressed at his ability to do assignments well. For example, when I was assigned a history paper, I made sure to start working on it early so that I would have time to proofread it and double check for any mistakes. The result was a high grade. Therefore, it is obvious that working slowly can lead to a better outcome.
In addition, working slowly gives a person more time to consider ideas. What I mean is that by taking one’s time, there is a greater chance to develop creative solutions. So by spending more time on a project, we can consider possibilities that we would not normally think of. For instance, when my friend had a problem in her relationship, I did not just tell her the first solution that came to mind. Instead, I took my time to discuss the situation with her until we finally reached a viable option. Thus, demonstrating that taking one’s time helps develop stronger outcomes.
Finally, working quickly with some mistakes can be embarrassing. It should be obvious that errors are unacceptable in professional work, so doing an assignment too fast will lead to problems in one’s career. One case would be my brother; he rushed through a report to try and meet a sudden deadline, but the quality of the work was so poor that his boss was very unhappy with the submission. Therefore, it is better to work slowly and carefully to avoid shame in one’s job.
In short, working slowly with few mistakes can have better quality work, more creative ideas, and fewer embarrassing outcomes. Thus, there is no doubt that I disagree with working quickly and risking making mistakes.
