The graph illustrates the changes in the amount of CO2 emissions per person in some countries namely Italy, United Kingdom, Sweden, and Portugal from 1967 to 2007.
According to the graph, the United Kingdom had always been the lead country in CO2 emissions compared to the other countries although over years it experienced a gradual decline from approximately 11 to roughly 9 metric tons.
Over this period, Sweden had a fluctuating trend. First, it peaked to above 10 in 1977 and then decreased sharply until 1987 followed up by a slower decrease. Finally, in 2007, the emissions’ quantity reached the same value as Portugal’s emissions.
Italy and Portugal underwent an increase over years to the point that Italy’s emissions in 1987 far passed Sweden’s. On the other hand, the least emissions had always been for Portugal from 1967 to 2007.
In conclusion, the United Kingdom and Portugal had respectively the highest and lowest rate of the emissions per person. Sweden and Italy were standing in middle places although they were going through different changes over the period.
