The article says that humankind can't inhabit Venus and provides three reasons of support. But the professor refutes those reasons one by one.
First, the article claims that the atmosphere pressure at Venus's surface is at least 90 times greater than the pressure at Earth's surface. The professor disagrees with this idea and mentions that humans can establish a station which is flooding about 50 kilometers above the Venus' surface. In that way, there will be much lower pressure compared with the surface and the station will face pressure equal to the earth's atmosphere. Moreover, there will be no crashes because of the extreme pressure.
Second, the article posits that there is no reservoirs of water on Venus' surface, and the planet's atmosphere, made up mostly of carbon dioxide, nitrogen, and sulfuric acid, contains hardly any oxygen or water. However, the professor states that since there are so much carbon dioxide and sulfuric acid, it's possible for humans to do some chemical processes to produce water. Thus, it's not necessary to import water from Earth to Venus.
Third, the article mentions that very little sunlight reaches the planet's surface. About 60 percent of the sunlight that hits Venus is reflected back into space by the thick clouds that fill the atmosphere. The professor refuses this idea and states that as we go higher and higher from Venus' surface, the clouds go thinner. So since we are building the base flooding about 50 kilometers above Venus' surface, the clouds which resides there are not very thick and there will be more sunlight passing through them. Additionally, we can use the reflections of the sunlight and build some solar power cells in the station that uses direct sunlight and the reflections in order to produce electricity needed by the station.
