The table illustrates the changes of average distance in miles traveled per person per year by different types of tools and this survey was conducted in the UK between 1985 and 2000.
To begin with, in 1985, the distance of cars traveled by far the most, with 3,199 miles, followed by other transportation tools and local bus, with 450 and 429 miles respectively. Taxi saw the least distance, recording in 13 miles.
In 2000, the car still ranked first with 4806 miles traveled, and this is nearly eight times as much as other modes moved. Surprisingly, 366 miles of distance traveled was recorded in the train, and bicycle became the least favorite one, only 41 miles were traveled by per person per year.
Overall, the car usage remained the most in all modes of transportation tools, and the distance of train and the long-distance bus was depicted a reasonable increase.
