Other reasons such as present health problems and family pressures accounted for less than 20%, with 25% attributing to less risk of getting smoking-related illness.
With regards to the time frame to ignore smoking, those who intend to give-up were by far the most predominant (71%). Representing a half of those who do not consider stopping smoking, some people have intention of giving up within the next 6 months. As low as 12% people, however, think of quitting smoking within the next month, whereas 21% consider within the next 12 months.
