The diagrams below show the life cycle of a species of large fish called the salmon.
The diagrams demonstrate the differences in the life cycle of a marine species called salmon.
Overall, it is clear that salmon’s life cycle includes three main stages beginning which laying eggs process and finishing with the adult fish swimming to the sea.
To begin with, mature fish choose the ideal spot which is the upper river where the water moves generally slowly to lay eggs. Eggs are laid under small tones below the reeds over a period of around 3 to 6 months. After that, these eggs hatch into baby fish called “fry”. The fry’s length is about 3 to 8 cm and they move to the lower river where there is fast flowing to live for approximately 4 years.
After the period of 48 months, the fry grow up to about 12 to 15 cm long and become “smolt”. The smolt then traverse to the open sea and shelter there for around 5 years before transforming into the adult salmon, which is about 70 to 76 cm long. The adult ones then create a own new cycle of laying eggs in the upper river where they were hatched.
