In addition, the figures for tennis, basket, and soccer were relatively similar, between 5% and 8%, which was higher than the number of girls being keen on athletics and marital, at 5% and 3%. The smallest proportion was in marital arts, with only 1%. About 10% of girls played other sports.
In contrast, fewest boys took part in netball, at only 1%. Whereas, the largest number of boys who played soccer accounted for 25%. Besides, there was about 13% of boys participating in swimming, being slightly higher than 10%-11% of boys playing crickets and marital arts. Last, the figures for tennis, basket ball and athletics were lower, standing at 7%, 6%, 5% respectively. However, New Zealand witnessed 18% of boys playing other sports.
