The line graph compares the relative price changes for fresh fruits and vegetables, sugar and sweets, and carbonated drinks between 1978 and 2009, a period of 31 years.
From the data of Bureau of labor statistics, the highest price change was from fresh fruits and vegetables. This was far higher than sugar and sweets and carbonated drinks which were below consumer price index which was around 210 consumers.
Before 2009, the price changes of fresh and fruits and vegetables got over 300 consumers and on the other hand, sweets and sugar and carbonated drinks catched up in around 200 consumers and more or less 155 consumers. It can clearly be seen from the graph, only fresh fruits and vegetables that experience repeated significant increases and decreases whilst the others have only got a small decrease and increase and were more often stable. Consumer price index was always increased every year since 1979 until 2009.
