The tables represent sales statistics of two Fairtrade-labelled products in 1994 and how it was changed in 2004 in five UN countries. Overall, sales volume of coffee increased in all countries, while sales of bananas also rose in three countries except two.
According to the first table, the dramatic growth was observed in the UK from 1.5(millions of euros) to 20, therefore British became the largest consumers in 2004. Whereas, the Swiss consumed two times more bananas in 2004(6). In contrast, Denmark and Sweden had a slight rose just by 0.2 similarly, while there was a noticeable increase in Belgium from 1 to 1.7.
The second table shows that Switzerland consumes bananas for 15 millions of euros in 1997, and the number has almost tripled by 2004(47). Similarly, significant growth was observed in the UK and Belgium, from 1 to 5.5 and from 0.6 to 4 respectively. However, sales of bananas decreased almost two times in Sweden(from 1.8 to 1) and in Denmark (from 2 to 0.9).
