Competitiveness is considered a positive quality of the society. How does competition affect individuals? Is it a positive or a negative approach?
Gone are the days when man had only three fundamental needs food, shelter and clothes. over couple of decades, the desperation to achieve more and more is striding quickly among human biengs that has led human to cut throat competition. It has been extremely debatable that whether competitiveness has more pros than cons or not. Here, I personally believe competition has more benefits than drawbacks.
There are plenty of points to support my view point. First and foremost, competition always stimulates everyone to give his best in every field of life as it motivates internally to perform well in order to preserve self esteem. By contrast, without competition, a person may indulge himself in relaxed lifestyle instead of thinking about considerable progress simultaneously become careless about producing best out of every job.
Further emphasizing on my point of view, competition creates the fear of lagging behind others which is phenomenal to bring out maximum potential as much as one can manage to accomplish greatest mipestones. For example, Sachin Tendulkar, the excellent batsman ever in cricket world, had tremendous competition with his rival Brian Lara, the sensatinal batsman of cricket for the greatness in cricket and it was his passionate spirit for the competition that has made him out do Lara in terms of records.
By contrast, its darker side can not be underestimated. Firstly, competition derives jealousy sometime so people may try to harm others for win by hook or by crook. In addition, competition nit only sometime breaks the confidence of losers but also emerge dissatisfaction as success achievers become overpassionate in their lives.
To recapitulate, competition has both merits and demerits. Yet it is quite difficult to support or go against either of the both sides entirely ,however, I think benefits of competitiveness outweigh disadvantages.
