the percentage of different types of waste recycled
The bar chart illustrates the proportion of four different types of waste which were recycled over a decade from 1992 to 2002.
Overall, there were considerable upward trends in the total of recycled waste over the period given. Another interesting point is that glass always made up the majority of the number of waste reprocessed.
Looking at details, in 1992 the percentage of glass which was recycled was 15% compared to nearly 13% for Paper. Then this figure for glass doubled continuously to over 30% and 50% in 1997 and 2002 respectively. Similarly, experienced a dramatic soar by nearly 5% in 1997, finally reached the peak at 40% which was as twice as higher compared to its figure in 1997.
On the other hand, the amount of cans and plastic waste reused both started with just 10% in 1992 and improving slowly in the next following years. Meanwhile, this figure for plastic has levelled off at just 12% since 1997, the proportion of cans which was recycled rose gradually to exactly 20% in 2002.
